LYNTON & LYNMOUTH
Lynton and Lynmouth lie within Exmoor National Park on the North Coast of Devon. The moors offer exquisite unspoilt landscapes to explore. Around the area you will find historic houses, dramatic beaches and abundant wildlife. Lynmouth Harbour on the Exmoor coast has one of the oldest cliff lifts in the UK which is operated by water balance. It connects with Lynton. RED STAG SAFARIS
For a great half days entertainment, try a safari with Red Stag Safari in the comfort of a Land Rover Discovery 3 ( other operators use Defenders which are less comfortable with poorer visibility through small windows ). The guide is Andrew Turner who has grown up on Exmoor and worked on many Exmoor farms. He will take you further than other operators so you will see more scenery and wildlife including Exmoor ponies and wild red deer. Woolacombe Riding Stables nestles in the valley of Woolacombe. We are a British Horse Society and Pony Club approved equestrian centre. We have recently become the 1st Riding stables to become Clubmark accredited in North Devon. Apart from the staff having their BHS qualifications, all full time staff have emergency first aid and child protection certificates.
The stables are situated at Eastacott Farm and visitors can ride over 200 acres of countryside as well as additional rides across the sand dunes at Woolacombe and over the 3 mile long stretch of golden sandy beach. www.woolacombe-ridingstables.co.uk

WALKING HOLIDAYS IN DEVON
The Guest House is convenient to Exmoor and the North Devon Coast. Nearby is the Valley of Rocks and Woody Bay Railway. There are plenty of excellent opportunities for walking the moors and coast to enjoy the beauty and breath in the great Devon air.
WATERSMEET, NORTH DEVON
If you are interested in history and archaeology Watersmeet is well worth a visit. The area owned by the National Trust offers much for visitors. Watersmeet House was built in 1832 as a fishing lodge. Watersmeet is a confluence of East Lynn and Hoar Oak rivers.
Close by is Countisbury where you will find an incredible Iron Age fort on Wind Hill. Believed to be the site of a battle in 878 where Odda’s Saxon army defeated Danish invaders. Visit the National Trust site for more details »
LYNTON & BARNSTAPLE RAILWAY DEVON
From Woody Bay Station steam trains roll through beautiful countryside and coastline. The railway was originally first opened in 1898 and closed in 1935. In recent times dedicated volunteers are rebuilding the legendary Lynton & Barnstaple Railway which is one of the world’s most famous and picturesque narrow gauge railways.
